Primary Operational Objectives:
This position works under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. The controller is responsible for managing the company’s financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and tax compliance. This position will also oversee the accounting staff for Timberline Rock n’ Roll (materials hauling) and Timberline Building Systems.

• Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, inventory, fixed asset records, cost accounting, general and entity accounting
• Assure financial plans are consistent with company goals
• Prepare sales and use tax filings
• Manage books and tax depreciation for fixed assets
• Support in the collections of customer accounts receivables on an as needed basis
• Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
• Financial reporting duties include preparing financial statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, budgets, budget-to-actuals and financial projections
• Reconcile bank, loan, and investment accounts; manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability
• Responsible for all banking and finance activities, including negotiating lines of credit and vendor agreements, as well as reviewing all financial contracts, financing agreements and insurance policies
• Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns
• Develop, improve and issue timely monthly and annual financial records
• Partner with CFO to support and ensure timely month-end and year-end close process. Continually reviewing procedures to improve inefficiencies
• Responsible for specified tasks as delegated by CFO and/or company President

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, and/or CPA
• 3+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership role, preferably in the commercial/residential landscaping industry, and/ or construction industry (Or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment). Working knowledge of Aspire and Sage software is preferred
• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Must speak English
• Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Must pass background check consisting of employment history, personal/professional references, criminal record, credit history and drug screen
